The Ohio Casino Control Commission voted to add an individual to the state’s Sports Gaming Involuntary Exclusion List after finding that threats against the Toronto Blue Jays manager were connected to World Series wagering.
The exclusion prohibits the individual from entering Ohio sports gaming facilities or participating in sports betting in the state.
MLB Supplied Evidence in Threats Investigation
According to the commission’s announcement, the individual made threats of violence or harm against the Blue Jays Manager John Schneider related to sports wagering on the 2025 World Series between Toronto and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Major League Baseball notified the commission of the incident and assisted its investigation. The league provided witness testimony and evidence that commissioners relied on in deciding to place the individual on the exclusion list.
“Major League Baseball’s partnership was instrumental in bringing this matter before the Commission, and we appreciate MLB’s commitment to protecting the integrity of the game,” said Andromeda Morrison, the commission’s interim executive director.
The commission is committed to preserving sports betting integrity in the state, Morrison added.
“Sports gaming should be conducted responsibly, and any act that threatens harm or violence against sports participants because of wagering will not be tolerated,” Morrison said.
