- Globe Life Field is slightly tougher on left-handed batters as the 12th-best ballpark out of 30. (Statcast’s “park factors” spreadsheet included London Stadium, but we won’t here.)
- Rightie hitters in Arlington have the eighth-best stadium to work with.
How to Watch the 2024 Home Run Derby
Disney will host the Home Run Derby telecast once again in 2024. ESPN has the primary broadcast. A stat-heavy, alternate broadcast unfolds on ESPN2.

The prize pool jumped from $750,000 to $2.5 million ahead of the 2019 derby. The 2024 Home Run Derby winner takes home $1 million.
2024’s Participants
Defending champion Vladimir Guerrero Jr. opted out of the 2024 Home Run Derby to focus on the second half of the season.
This year’s Home Run Derby once again features four National League hitters and four sluggers from the American League. Fans will notice a slight format change in 2024, however.
MLB has eliminated head-to-head pairings in the first round. All eight batters will take their swings as part of a pool. The top four advance to the semifinals.
The semifinals and finals return to the head-to-head format, however. Pairings are seeded as 1 vs. 4 and 2 vs. 3, based on first-round results.

In another wrinkle, hitters are limited to either the three-minute time limit or 40 pitches in the first two rounds — whichever comes first.
Keep an eye on homers that soar past the 440-foot mark. Multiple moonshots give players three extra outs (non-home runs) in the bonus round. That’s a change from the 30-second bonus time awarded in previous years.
