Flutter’s Sportsbet Adds New Chief Information Officer Michael Foster

A subsidiary of Flutter Entertainment (Flutter Entertainment 25,43 +0,08%), Sportsbet, made news headlines on Thursday when it appointed a new Chief Information Officer (CIO), Michael Foster.

Foster has been a former employee of Sportsbet as he was previously the general manager of enterprise technology and general manager for customer experience delivery.

His role transition is going to be very swift and seamless, as he has worked with the company for over seven years and also held a management role in the company.

As seen on LinkedIn, Foster expressed his delight in the role and highlighted that his journey with the company thus far has positively impacted him “personally and professionally.”

“I’m super excited, thrilled and privledged to continue my career journey at Sportsbet, now as the CIO. Sportsbet is an incredible organisation to be a part of and the last 7 years have been incredibly rewarding both personally and professionally. To now have the opportunity to lead our Technology capability is honestly a dream come true,” said Foster.

“We are pleased to announce that Michael Foster has taken on the role of Chief Information Officer for Sportsbet. Michael is no stranger to our business, having been with us since 2016 in a number of senior Technology leadership roles. Most recently, Michael was our General Manager of Customer Experience Delivery, leading the Technology teams that bring to life our incredible Sportsbet products and customer experiences,” Sportsbet wrote on their social media.

Michael Foster’s Career Journey: From Sportsbet Programmer to CIO

Foster has a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Science and Computer Software Engineering from RMIT University. He began his career as a programmer in early 2002, and after securing numerous other positions in this field in 2005, he joined Infosys as a development lead for more than a year.

Subsequently, he transitioned to Sensis Classfields as an IT Development and Support Manager, a role he held for two years and four months, before taking on the role of IT Manager for a brief eight-month stint in the same company.

Still at Sensis, he transitioned to being a Programs and Operations Manager in 2011, Group Manager-IT Operations in 2013, and then Group Manager-Bussiness Enablement Technology & Services in 2015.

There’s no doubt that Foster will thrive in this role, as he has handled relatable departments in a management role.

“With over 20 years in Technology roles across a number of industries, Michael brings extensive technical leadership experience to the CIO role, and we’re excited to welcome him to Sportsbet’s Leadership Team,” Sportsbet wrote.

While acknowledging some of his mentors in the industry, Foster added that he is prepared to bring his A game to ensure customer needs are met.

“Our Technology team has fantastic track record of combining tech innovation with customer needs, creating incredible products and experiences. I look forward with energy and excitement to supporting and helping the team continue to achieve these outcomes and strive to even further heights.

“It would be remiss of me not to recognize and thank Simon Noonan for his coaching, mentorship, advice, and overall support of both my career and the broader Technology team. Simon has been pivotal to providing me the pathway to this career change and I can’t thank him enough. All the best over at MYOB Big Noons,” Foster concluded.

Meanwhile, in other company-related news, Sportsbet parent company Flutter announced this month that it is moving its primary stock listing to the New York Stock Exchange.
